"The Opioid Crisis Is Really a Heroin Crisis" from CATO Institute
A fresh perspective from a libertarian think tank, The Cato Institute, discussing the ongoing opioid crisis that argues the focus on prescription painkillers is misplaced. While some may disagree with the Institute's politics, the podcast raises two important points: 1) Clinicians should not be afraid to, and are indeed obligated to, utilize opioids and other medications to ameliorate pain, liberally if necessary; 2) Addressing the epidemic will require more than just clinicians. Other services, professions, and organizations from all levels of society must be engaged as well.
